Maitland
A planned hilltop town at the geographic centre of the peninsula, surrounded by rolling farmland and big gulf views.
Maitland crowns a rise near the middle of the peninsula and styles itself the "heart of Yorke Peninsula." Laid out in a neat grid in the 1870s, it overlooks farmland running down to both gulfs. The town has heritage streetscapes, a museum, a popular country market and easy access to the beaches of Balgowan, Port Victoria and Ardrossan.
