A quiet sandy beach near Port Victoria, good for walking, fishing and watching the grain ships at anchor.
Close to the old grain port of Port Victoria, Burners Beach is a quiet ribbon of sand looking out toward Wardang Island and the shipping channel beyond. It is an easygoing spot for a beach walk or a cast, away from the busier foreshore in town.
Port Victoria was once known as the last of the windjammer ports, where tall sailing ships loaded grain for the long haul to Europe. That maritime past still hangs over this coast, and from the beach you can often see bulk carriers riding at anchor offshore.
The beach is sheltered and unhurried, well suited to a slow morning of fishing or a stroll while exploring the western coast of the peninsula.
