Port Victoria Jetty
A long heritage jetty on the west coast, a favourite for squid, whiting and a stroll over clear water.
The Port Victoria Jetty reaches out over clear gulf water on Yorke Peninsula's western coast, a reminder of the town's windjammer past when grain was carried out to waiting sailing ships. The first jetty here was started in 1876 and completed in 1878, later modified into an L-shape. Today it is one of the most popular fishing jetties on the peninsula, where anglers chase squid, King George whiting, garfish and tommy ruff. The historic cargo store beside it, built in 1878, now houses the Port Victoria Maritime Museum. The jetty is a fine spot to watch the sunset, snorkel in the shallows or simply stroll out over the water and take in views toward Wardang Island. Clean up after fishing and check local rules on bag limits.
