Ardrossan
Red-cliff town with big gulf views and crab fishing.
A working grain-port town on the east coast, famous for its red cliffs, blue swimmer crabs and panoramic gulf lookout.
Ardrossan is the largest town on the peninsula's east coast, perched above striking red ochre cliffs that glow at sunrise. A working deep-water port still ships grain, while the long jetty and sand flats are renowned for raking blue swimmer crabs and catching whiting. The clifftop lookout offers sweeping views across Gulf St Vincent, and the town museum remembers the invention of the stump-jump plough nearby.
