Cable Bay

A quiet camping and fishing bay on the western edge of Innes National Park, away from the crowds.

Cable Bay sits on the western side of Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park, a low-key camping ground and beach that rewards those seeking solitude. The bay takes its name from an undersea telegraph cable that once ran from this stretch of coast, and today it is a peaceful base for beach fishing, walking and watching the Southern Ocean roll in. Campsites here are simple and exposed, suited to self-sufficient visitors who bring their own water and supplies, as there are no facilities beyond the basics. From Cable Bay you can explore the surrounding heathland on foot, spot emus and kangaroos at dawn and dusk, and reach other corners of the park by car. As with all of Innes, a park entry pass and pre-booked camping permit are required.
