A quiet, sheltered cove inside Innes National Park, good for swimming and snorkelling on calm days.
Tucked into the rugged coastline of Innes National Park, Cable Hut Bay is one of those small coves that rewards anyone willing to wander off the main beaches. The bay is partly sheltered by reef, so on a still day the water settles into clear pools that are ideal for a snorkel.
The name recalls the undersea telegraph cable that once came ashore along this stretch of coast. Today the hut is gone but the bay keeps its quiet character, with low dunes and a scatter of rock that holds pools at low tide.
There is no surf patrol and conditions change quickly with the swell, so the bay is best in settled weather. Bring everything you need, as there are no facilities here.
