A rugged, rock-fringed beach near Marion Bay favoured by anglers and walkers exploring the bottom of Yorke.
Black Rock Beach takes its name from the dark reef and stone that frame its sand on the rugged coast near Marion Bay. It is a wilder beach than the sheltered bays of the east coast, exposed to the swell and weather that sweep up from the Southern Ocean.
Anglers come here to cast off the rocks and beach for salmon and reef species, while walkers are drawn by the raw scenery and the sense of being at the bottom of the peninsula. The dark headlands and clear water make it a striking spot in any light.
There are no facilities and the coast is exposed, so it suits self-sufficient travellers who check conditions before they set out.
