Marion Bay is the small coastal town that serves as the front door to Innes National Park. Its broad, sheltered beach curves gently around a bay that stays calm when the surf beaches further south are raging, making it a favourite for families, swimmers and anglers.
The boat ramp launches a steady stream of fishing and crayfishing boats, and the jetty and beach see good catches of squid, whiting and salmon. The town's tavern and general store make it the natural base for exploring the park, with Stenhouse Bay and the Innes sights just minutes down the road.
The wide eastern aspect means glorious sunrises over the water, while a short drive delivers the park's famous sunsets. It is a quiet, unhurried place that rewards a slow few days.
