The Copper Coast takes its name from the rich ore that drew thousands of Cornish miners to Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta from the 1860s. Together the three towns formed one of the British Empire's great copper-producing regions, leaving behind grand stone buildings, mine ruins, smelter sites and a living Cornish culture. Today the district celebrates that legacy with museums, heritage trails and the biennial Kernewek Lowender festival.
