Warooka
A friendly southern crossroads town billed as the gateway to the bottom of Yorke and its surf coast.
Warooka is a small, welcoming town in the south-west of Yorke Peninsula, often described as the gateway to the bottom of Yorke. It grew up as a service centre for the surrounding farmland after the Hundred of Moorowie was proclaimed in 1869, and today it is the last sizeable town travellers pass through on the way to Corny Point, Marion Bay and Innes National Park. The main street has a heritage country pub, a general store and a bakery, making it a handy stop to fuel up before heading to the surf coast and remote beaches. Warooka also hosts community events and sits within easy reach of west-coast fishing spots. Relaxed and unpretentious, it captures the easygoing spirit of the southern peninsula.
