Stansbury Jetty
A long heritage jetty over seagrass flats, beloved by squidders and a gateway to Oyster Bay.
The Stansbury jetty stretches out across shallow seagrass flats into Oyster Bay, a long, atmospheric structure that has served this quiet east-coast town for well over a century. It is one of the best squidding jetties on the peninsula — anglers line the rails at dusk casting jigs over the weed beds where southern calamari thrive.
The town's name nods to its oyster-growing past, and the sheltered bay still produces fine seafood. Behind the jetty, a low-key foreshore with a caravan park, swimming beach and the historic Dalrymple Hotel make Stansbury an easy, unhurried base.
Walk to the end at sunset, watch the squid lights flicker on, and you'll understand why generations of South Australian families have holidayed here.
