Lighthouses of the Yorke Peninsula

A coastal trail around the peninsula's guiding lights

2 days Photographers and maritime-history buffs 6 stops

The plan

The Yorke Peninsula is ringed by lights, a legacy of the gulf shipping that once carried copper, grain, salt and gypsum to the world. This two-day trail joins the best of them, pairing the lighthouses with the wild coast and clifftop views they were built to guard.

Day one concentrates on the dramatic southern lights inside Innes National Park, where Cape Spencer and West Cape stand above the surf. Day two works up the west coast to Corny Point and on to the old Copper Coast light at Wallaroo.
