Sultana Point

A tranquil residential point near Edithburgh with shallow flats famed for crabbing and prolific birdlife.

Sultana Point sits just south of Edithburgh, a quiet residential point fronting broad, shallow tidal flats that are among the best crabbing grounds on the peninsula. At low tide, locals and visitors wade out with rakes and nets to gather blue swimmer crabs, while the flats themselves draw flocks of wading birds.

The shallow, sheltered water is gentle and warm in summer, safe for paddling, and the point's quiet streets and foreshore reserve make for easy, relaxed days. Edithburgh's jetty, tidal pool and cafes are only minutes away.

It is a classic lower-Yorke crabbing spot — bucket, rake, a falling tide and the satisfaction of a fresh feed at the end of the day.
